Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #16

 Today I'm joining the

I took a different route through our neighborhood for my walk on
April 19th.  I am so thankful I was paying attention.  I just happened to look down a few feet ahead of myself.  I spotted this beautiful Swallowtail butterfly on the street.
No injuries that I could see but it wasn't moving.
I picked up the pine needle (at red arrow) gently put it under the
butterfly.  It slowly latched onto the pine needle. I took it up into a yard nearby
placed it near the blade of grass out of harm's way.  It started to climb up the blade of grass.  Right photo of it from underneath.  Maybe if you biggfy you can see its delicate legs.  I hope it regained it's strength while it rested on the blade of grass.

Thankful Addendum: I meant to add how thankful I am for our Geek Squad maintenance contract.  The Geeks gave my computer an online work up yesterday.  Last weekend I had a note pop up about too many temporary files and one other crazy message.  They took care of that and updated files.  It took over an hour but it was well worth it.

Today we join Two  SPOILED CATS

Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Here is our inspiration

Along the roads of my youth
there were booths full of fruit
veggies, and homemade goods.

Life moved at a different pace,
New friends were found along the road.
Time was made for a face to face.

Now
Highways with high speeds are traveled
No one has time for a face to face
All meets and greets are via tweets,
text or the
Book of Faces.

  1. Well done for gently helping that beautiful swallowtail butterfly.
With the pace of life slowed down for many in the past year, those of us who regularly walk in our neighbourhood have found people are more inclined, at the slightest excuse, to stop and talk. But sadly, roadside fruit and veg stalls are not part of the scene.
    Cheers! Gail.

  3. Living in the country we still see a lot of the roadside stalls. Very soon they will be selling strawberries. The butterfly is beautiful.

First - I suspect that is a newly fledge fluttery and was drying its wings - you did a fine thing!

Second - oh if only to have such a stall nearby here. Your words hit the mark. YAM xx

  8. Thanks for rescuing the butterfly - I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that! They live their lives so quickly anyway but I don't want them to end their lives early because of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Love your poem - sadly it's true but there are still places like my little town and the countryside around it where these stands can be found - and I hope that NEVER goes away! Thanks for playing poetry with us...............

    Hugs, Pam

  12. I saw lots of butterflies the other day as the sun was shining. But they were all very much on the move. This one may have been a little tired, but it definitely is a good looking butterfly!

  14. Wow! What an amazing butterfly! I'm sure if I had found it around here today, it would have been frozen. (What a cold, windy, snowy Earth Day we had!) Hopefully it will warm up soon.

We agree about the little farm stand. We'd rather buy produce at a place like that than at a supermarket. Unfortunately, places like that are getting rare. We sure miss the local farm markets that have closed in the past years.
