Thursday July 25 we had a gully washer, frog choker and dang near a
flood in the back yard. 1.5" of rain fell in 1 1/2 hours
July showers gave us a crop of mushrooms
It rained every day the week of July 22-26, our grass guy hasn't been able to cut the grass either.

we had one day without rain in 3 weeks but not gully washers. onlye 3 days of those. we got 2 inches in 15 minutes, now that is a gully washer

ReplyDeleteWow that's some rain you've been having, if you know about mushrooms I guess you could have quite the feast, but if you don't it's best to leave them alone, meanwhile here in the UK were having a mini heatwave xxx
ReplyDeleteWe are used to all the rain now. Every few days we get half an inch to an inch. Last night we had another "quick" storm that dumped just over a half inch of rain. At least we haven't had to water anything this year so far. It has been so wet, even mushrooms can't get growing, only long grass and a huge crop of weeds.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to relieve you of some of that ring if I could. We are having a bit of a drought up here unbelievably. You'll probably need a brush hog by the time he gets your grass mowed.
ReplyDeleteMy second Spark this morning to remind me to not stress! Some type of tropical disturbance possibly heading our way. Our lawn looks much like yours this morning minus the mushrooms :) You certainly have a happy little village of mushrooms!

ReplyDeleteWe've had some gully washers here last week too. It rained so hard it looked like snow storm white out conditions for a while.

That is a nice lot of mushrooms. They are a different shape to our field mushrooms so don't know if they are safe to eat. If they were I would have them chopped, fried and on toast.
ReplyDeleteWe have had the same thing happen here too. It is interesting to see all the different kinds of mushrooms that pop up. But Mom always steers us clear of them just in case they aren't safe.

It's been raining, both hard and light, here for about a week, but not like you described! We saw "mushrooms" like yours on our morning walk today. I do wish we could pick and eat them, but it's just not worth the risk. Oh, and our grass has gone from brownish and not growing to a full, lush jungle that's too wet to be cut, too!

Those sudden dumps of inches of rain are hard to handle. I hope you get to dry out soon (but not too far in the other direction).
