The top of the first one looks like some sort of nesting box. The jar? Total mystery! YAM xx

  3. We have a few of those 'libraries' around here, too! It's fun when we see peeps actually using them.

  4. Dearest Cecilia,
Quite inventive to place a wasp trap on a pole like that!

  6. That thing behind the mailbox is weird, no clue what that could be. It doesn't make any sense from what we can see in the photo.

  7. Interesting that one of these popped up in my community not long ago. Painted bright yellow with green leaves on it.

  8. What's with the mason jar?—Very interesting this morning. The Little Free Library is awesome. Our little great-niece just got her Dad to put one in front of their house.
    Good Morning!

  9. That first one looks like something for insects, perhaps a ap as someone suggested?

I love the lending library! I see a few of them around town, one on a nearby street. I'm not sure how well used ours are, though!

Someone also has a seed library, though I'm not sure if the homeowners get any takers for that.

  13. I have no idea what the first one is. We have lots of the free libraries here. We have a box of books to donate.

  14. We had no idea what the jar attached to the mailbox was but reading through the comments, a wasp jar makes sense! We don't see little free libraries in our neighborhood. Maybe it's because the library is only a mile away.

  16. Upon close inspection we agree with some of the others and think the thing on the mailbox is a wasp trap.

  20. I'd love to know what the first one is too. Bet it is a trap of some sort. Love the little Library I see a decent number of those here at home.

  21. More community have small little library.

  22. I would think it's to tempt wasps in so they won't build under the little library and then chase people away.

  23. Yes, we wondered if it is a wasp trap or maybe a Japanese beetle one. Nice little library. We have a few of them in our area too.

  24. Clueless on the little "jar" but definitely NOT clueless on the wonderful "library boxes" that are popping up EVERYWHERE! We have them in many locations around town and the suburbs here and they are wonderful - what a GREAT idea.

    Hugs, Pam

  25. We have a little library in our neighborhood like that too! When the weather's nice, the folks who live there also put out a basket with more books. I also think the jars' to trap stingy insects. Let us know if you find out!
