Our hosts for Nature Friday LLB Gang
OML(izards) I don't recall the last time I saw a lizard around here.
Photo snapped on October 20, 2025 12 noon on our deck.
What an adorable little friend who was not in the least bit afraid of me. His body was about 3 1/2" long his tail was at least 6" maybe 7".
Below photos are enlarged to show his most handsome self. I love the pinkish stripe on his back
A lizard with a pink stripe on its back is likely a male green anole, which can have a light stripe down its back and a bright pink throat fan (dewlap) it displays for communication. Another possibility is the banded Gila monster, which has pink and black bands across its body, or the pink blind legless skink from South Africa, which is pale pink with a striped pattern and lacks legs.

Where is the Kitty
Can you find Madi in this picture?
She worms her way behind the pillows
then wiggles under the comforter.
Yep that big lump is the Diva.
I say hire him, Madi says fire him. He cannot keep a secret!!!

aww madi as an undercover agent? lizards are interesting... how much they look like gators or dragons ... in bonsai size ;O))
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen lizards for years either. They used to be down in the stream in the fields next to where I lived as a child. My brother and I used to catch them and put them on the bank to see whose won by getting back in the water first.
ReplyDeleteI thought the lump must be Madi. Flynn used to do the same.
We have skinks that live under our sidewalk in front of our porch BUT we don't see them until the weather warms up. I have tried to catch one but they are FAST! The best I have done so far is catching the end of one's tail......

I speak to your green anoles first cousin, the same size and look brown anole several times a day, he hangs out by the poop bag that hangs on the fence, stuffing himself with bugs and flies.... I remember the mole hill sweet Madi girl... sunpuddles and blankets for winter time
ReplyDeleteCool pictures of the lizard.
ReplyDeleteI'm LOL at the lump in the comforter.
Mom is afraid of pretty much every reptile and would scream and run if she saw that thing too! She hated the little geckos in Florida and she is terrified of frogs too. Silly Mom of ours.
ReplyDeleteThat lizard is very handsome indeed!
ReplyDeleteLike Madi, Derry used to love being under the covers, though in his case it was more to feel safe (hidden). 🙃
Love the lizard. We have them up here and we also have skinks. But I'm never really in the right place to see either one and I love them. Well I guess when you're in bed you should always make sure that there's no lumps before you roll over. It might cause bodily injury to yourself and to the lump.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like our brown anoles. We occassionally see a green anole but mostly brown which change colors depending on where they are. Ours turn black when hanging out on the black heat pump for the pool. We love our anoles! I see Madi under the comforter! That is where I am this morning! Great start to the morning with Madi and Mr. Anole! I feel so much sympathy for anyone who has had to buy a new refrigerator recently!!! Just a random observation.
ReplyDeleteHe's lucky he is not in my yard. I've had to rescue several from the murder kittens.

ReplyDeleteLovely wee lizard... and poor Madi, there was no avoiding the pawparazzi! YAM xx
I haven't seen a lizard since I visited my mom in FL. Sadly, I think they are kind of creepy. We bigified the photo and we still couldn't find you, Madi, and now we know why☺
ReplyDeleteOur lizards have gone to sleep for the Winter...but Rosy still looks in all their favorite spots every day BOL! Angel Dory's favorite lizard to chase was the anole...We had them everywhere when we lived in Austin!
ReplyDeleteAngel Madi sure was a good hider!
hugs,
