THANKFUL AND Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #240

 Thankful Thursday hosted

I am thankful for each day that Bryan and I are able to get up (albeit a bit stiff and achy), have breakfast together, sip our favorite flavor of Peets coffee and then prepare for whatever the day brings.  We are STILL able to exercise each day either walking or going to the gym. As the saying goes,

motion is lotion to the joints.

Today is Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy at

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

This week's photo challenge

At Christmas, we have learned, snacks
are left out for Santa Claus.
Mom caught us taking a sample.
We told her it was our civic duty
to be sure the milk was fresh
and the cookies were sweet.
After all, we don't want Santa's
belly that shake like jelly to
get grumbly and rumbly
he might toss his crumbly cookies
on the rug and we'll be blamed.

  2. Adorable picture, and how thoughtful of you 2 to be Santa’s taste testers! I’m sure you only take a small taste! 🤣 I’m thankful to be retired and spend my days with David and our silly cats. It’s a simple life & I love it! 🥰 TV

Love the picture of the dog and cat. And that's awesome that they are testing the milk and cookies for Santa. VEry thoughtful.

  10. Movement is so important. We watch Gramma decline. Each fall or injury sets her back and she never can get back to where she was. Staying as active as one can, as long as one can is so important.

  11. My watch watches steps: some days the numbers barely get out of the "hundreds"!
Bah humbug. Some days we make it into the high up there "thousands"! YAY for us. No matter which, those old bones still ache, yell, scream ... but each day is one to be thankful to have ... as it is said: the alternative is not such a good one, eh?

  17. So true, every day is a gift to be appreciated.
Do not want Santa tossing his cookies on the rug! We'd have a quick clean-up here with tile.

  20. Well, if Santa blames you for that, we'll put a lump of coal in his stocking, LOL! Fun read, fun poem. Yes, always telling myself motion is lotion when I creaked down to the garden center today and almost tripped over my toes, causing a poor lady to hold her hand up to me and saying, "Ups, watch yourself" Motion can be dangerous, lol! Hugs, Denise xo

  24. We are the same way - getting up in the morning is sometimes a challenge but once we have a cup of coffee and move around we're READY for the day. We love your poem - and we never thought about the possibility that Santa would appreciate having a "Taste Tester" for the goodies people leave out for him - nice that someone cares enough to make sure those goodies are GOOD!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy
