  8. Hi there Madi & Mom. It took me awhile to get over here, but I wanted to say thanks for visiting my blog - and thanks for caring about little Emmy the hummingbird! After a week or so of balmy weather, we had a sudden, brutal cold snap (I'm guessing you know all about this if you live in the Piedmont of NC - I'm just a bit west of you). Yesterday morning after putting out the warm hummingbird feeders, it was 15 degees and I was holding a vigil at the kitchen window. All the other birds arrived, but not Emmy. With each passing moment I got more and more worried. But when I stepped outside, I heard the most beautiful sound - that familiar hummingbird "chatter!" Within a moment or so she was at her feeder, apparently none the worse for wear for having been through an extremely cold and windy night. I'm so glad it's warmed up some - even if we do have a bit of snow this morning. She's out there now with the other birds, and looks pretty happy. :)
