MOM IS KIND OF TICKLED AT TODAY'S WORD. She has been wanting to show you some things.

GLASS:
hard, brittle substance; anything made of glass
Mom and Dad have a lot of my other grandma I did not meet, Margie's glassware. None of it is particularly expensive but
all of it is very beautiful and oh how Grandma Margie
loved her glassware. Back in the early 20th century there
was a piece of glassware for nearly everything.
I think one or two of them would make a nice
Diva dish. MOL
This hurricane lamp and these two pieces of
burgundy glassware were also Grandma Margie's
I was kind of worried the hurricane lamp was going
to fall on me so I decided to sit very still for this 2nd photo op
Those are AWESOME glass cat food bowls, Madi! 'Cause that is what they are, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteWe usually find cats behind glass! They sit in their house windows and stare at us....they watch us go NUTS!
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, bella & Roxy
Not sure I would ahve been allowed up on hte table, so close to both the hurricane lamp and the table edge...
ReplyDeleteHave a great Saturday.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
We see a tuna bowl, a kibbles bowl, a chicken bowl.....
ReplyDeleteThe glassware is all beautiful, our Mama can't take her eyes off that pretty cranberry bell. We would never be allowed to sit so close to the oil lamp. It's a good thing you sat very still.

Oh Madi,
ReplyDeleteI do think that you need a different kind of food in each one of those plates, I'm just sayin.....

Madi you are a true model. You barely flinched. If that was me it would be broken. Sigh. Have a super Saturday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
That hurricane lamp is just gorgeous. That is one old timey lamp. All of it is just amazing. We have to agree, that we would have been nervous having you so close to those items Madi, but you were such a good girl. And your Grandma had the same name as our Person. Her old friend call her Margie. So we know she was a good person. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWe don't understand why all your meals aren't served on that beautiful glassware. They look like perfect serving pieces for a diva such as yourself.

ReplyDeleteOh Madi those are some very sweet pieces of glassware! I love the hurricane lamps. You have a great Saturday!
ReplyDeleteMadi, your mom was very brave putting that beautiful hurricane lamp on the bed - it is lovely. We have a lot of old glass here and the Momster hopes her children will take good care of it in the years to come. It belonged to our Mom's Grandma, so it is REALLY old.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

Good decision! You don't want that to konk you on the noggin!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Mama is about to has a heart attack with those breakables so close to your noggin! Hatfield the orange kitty is breaking glass things ALL the time; clearly he needs to take poise lessons from you.
ReplyDeletelove,
Reuben
Lovely treasures! You did such a good job, Madi! Really love that lamp and those burgundy pieces.
ReplyDeleteOh yep, Mom wants to see it all, she has some of her grandmas milk glass stuff! but it never comes out of the hutch!
ReplyDeleteThe Mad Scots
I love looking at treasures like these. You are right, there was a dish for everything. I remember on holidays being fascinated by the tiny sweet pickles, served appropriately in a pickle dish.
ReplyDeleteOh Miss Madi that hurricane lamp is arooootiful but it sure looks very delicate. We totally agree that your mom should allow you to use one of those glass dishes - totally diva-worthy!
ReplyDeleteWally & Sammy
The glassware is lovely. Up until my mum was about 16 they used hurricane lamps in the bedrooms but they were brass. They didn't have electric until the mid 60s because she lived in an isolated area. The rest of the cottage was lit by Tilley lamps and they cooked with LPG.
ReplyDeleteLovely glassware you have !
ReplyDeleteMy mom have som old glassware from her grandmother too :)
I'm a glass nut too Mom. Love your pieces.

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
