Something disturbing happened today when I was outside with Mom. I saw a lizard, I jumped on it, (before Mom could stop me), and it’s TAIL FELL OFF!!! 🙀
I was freaking out until Mom told me lizards can voluntarily “drop” their tails in order to escape predators. And guess what!?! A lizard can regenerate a functional tail in more than 60 days. Pretty cool, huh?
I wonder if 🦎 are limited to 9 tails, like us felines with 9 lives. 😹😹😹
❤️ Kat Your Feline Nephew
The following video may be disturbing to some views, but I promise, no lizards were harmed in the making of this video. 😺
Dearest brave nephew!!
Leaping Lizards Nephew! You jumped on that intruder like white on rice!
Uncle and I are giggling and drooling in our coffee.
The great out of doors is full of mysteries.
I bet there are many humans who’d like to be able drop off a bit of their tushes every so often.
😅😂
Thank you for this great action video.
Lovingly your Aunty HiC
Hi Kat,
ReplyDeleteThis action video demonstrating your lightening fast reflexes is an excellent lesson on why us slower moving pups are wise to steer clear of you kitties...
Toodle pip!

ReplyDeleteCrikey, blink and eye and miss the amazement... isn't nature just fantabulous??? YAM xx

ReplyDeleteKat you sure are KUTE while scaring Lizards.. i just LOVE seeing you in your harness walking outside.
ReplyDeleteWow - you were right on top of things, Kat!
ReplyDeleteWas the tail tasty? I wonder if the lizard will come back with another tail for you when he has grown a new one.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun for you Kat to go outside and explore and find lizards. Good job. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeletehahaha, Kat that lizard will think twice about getting any where around you.
ReplyDeleteGrreat hunting, Kat! We have a family of those lizards who live on our back patio, but I don't chase them.
ReplyDeleteThe tail fell off . . . Yuck!
ReplyDeleteKat sure is a mighty hunter. We don't have any lizards around here but they look like they would be fun to play with.
ReplyDeleteYep, that's how it works. I could use losing about 20 pounds of extra on my body. Perhaps Kat can help with that.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Kat. My best to your Auntie. ♥
Oh my goodness, I'd best not let Brother Simon see the tail falling off part!
ReplyDeleteJust the thought of lizards around Eastside Cats, making Da Boyz go nutso...well, I'm GLAD we don't have any of them! Sky raisins, spiders, and centipedes are crawly critters enough!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have any lizards around here. My Florida associate, Miss Charlee says there are lizards everywhere in South Florida. And she says the feral cats there like to eat them.
ReplyDeleteGood job Kat!! When we lived in Texas, our Angel Dory used to scare the tails off of lizards too and Mama would find little tails around the house(which freaked her out until she learned they dropped their tails). Unfortunately we don't have any lizards in Northy North Cali...but Mama is seeing them everywhere in Texas!

ReplyDeleteWe've never, ever been able to catch a lizard!
ReplyDeleteWe did not know that about lizards and their tails. Misty caught one a while ago and tried to eat it. Luckily it got away, and we think its tail went with it.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
You made my evening with this! XXX
ReplyDeleteYeppers, lizard tails are definitely optional.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely part tiger! What a great pouncer you are, Kat! Pierre loves to chase lizards and we had a bunch of them without tails at our old house.
ReplyDeleteWow we did not know the lizards could just drop their tails like that, kinda freaky indeed
ReplyDeletehugs
Mabel & Hilda
We have lots of lizards here with different sized tails. It's kinda both creepy and fascinating to see the tail off the lizard! Kind of baffling, right Kat?!
ReplyDeleteYou have such fun creatures where you live I think we want to move Kat
