Why does my cat have an M on his forehead?
All tabbies have an 'M' marking on their forehead, and on some this mark is very distinct. The 'M' is often referred to as 'the mark of the true tabby'. There are several amusing legends about how tabby cats got their 'M'. ... After a time a small cat with tabby markings jumped into the manger and snuggled next to Jesus.

    that's true!!! and the silly friend of the mama named her cat mickey mouse because of the M... that#s weird to name a cat after a mouse...

    i did not know about the M and have never seen one. now that i see it i can't un-see it. now i need to find a tabby to look at and see if i can find it...... mom and me is purrfect

    We never knew that about the M on tabby cats. But to be fair, we rarely see that end--usually it's just a retreating back end. We like that M, too.

    I had a wonderful tabby named Cleo. We thought he looked like Cleopatra and thought he was a girl until he went to get "spayed."
