Happy Tuesday: Niagara Falls Faucet

Thank you to our

 Hostess Sandee at Comedy Plus

picture #1

The little thingamagiggy that controls the water flow  on  the kitchen faucet had a blow out...

picture #2

is the mini Niagara Falls.  If I happened to have my hands or a dish under it, I was immediately drenched along with the counters and the windows over the sink. Once or twice the force of the water actually knocked things out of my hands. I put tape on the faucet handle to remind me.

picture #3,

Prior to blow out the faucet always came on softly

The faucet is a Grohe.  It was originally installed in 2006 and has a lifetime warranty HAPPY HAPPY dance.

Picture #4
The replacement faucet came last week.  The  Grohe rep told me we could 'probably' install it ourselves.  However, upon examination of the old one and the new one, we decided we   'probably' needed a special tool.  The old one was really tight.  What if we 'probably' could not get the new one on?! We'd have a big mess.  We decided it would be 'probably'  best to call a plumber. Happy to say on Wednesday January 4 we had it professionally installed.  Some things are worth paying for, after all the faucet was free.

I used to help dad with all the home plumbing... I rather like that sort of job. But yeah, you need the right tools. And experts are there for a reason! YAM xx

  6. We're glad it all worked out! Plumbing is one thing I'm completely hopelessly lost about.

  7. We don't do plumbing here either. Let the professionals do it. No leaking that way.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Big hug, my friend. ♥

  8. I don't think you probably made a good decision to hire a plumber, I KNOW you made the right decision. Plumbing requires professional help.. so glad you could get the replacement, parts are hard to get these days...

  9. We always leave the plumbing work to the professionals. Glad to hear it was fixable and didn't cost you anything for the new parts.

  10. We don't mess with water or electric! Professionals are the way to go. We have a faucet similar to that and it has a mind of its own. It's sometimes like when you have the outside hose pressure up high and it goes whirling and twirling in your hand and sprays everything it its path!

  11. Oh gosh, I "paid" for it having handyman in a Next Door ad coming over. I always till I called this guy, get a pro even though I have to break my piggy bank--- just as I always did until that mistake of calling the one in Next Door. A bad sign to me right off the bat is when the person coming over is answering my question of how much the charge will be with "what do you think is right?" I always say that I need to think the whole thing over and thanks for coming by. Your case was different thank goodness. By the way, Katie said she loves seeing Madi up in the header like that. Shows off her beauty. Wish I had you and Bryan to take a walk with ME today. I am going to try to find something picture worthy. XOX

  13. Plumbing is not the easiest job to accomplish. We vote for the plumber for less headaches!

  14. I have had to take on many chores since my Ron died. Thankfully it was my mother who was the handy person when I was growing up so I have the ability to tackle all problems to the best of my ability. Not plumbing yet...knock on wood.

  15. Yay for happy endings!!! We are also big fans of the pros if we don't think we can do it ourselves!

  16. Was remembering waaaaaaay back when the kids were babies and there I was at the sink. Luckily the window was u a little...because when I attempted to turn the water off, everything came off in my hand and a huge water gusher started up. I saw a man across the street and up three houses and screamed at him to please come help me...that the water was gushing out of the sink. He did come..he managed to turn the water off. I got a plumber...whew! WHAT a mess.

  17. That was a wise decision, I would have had to call a plumber too...or shout out a flood drill alert.

  19. Thank goodness for the nifty little handle under all the sinks and behind the toilets that will stop the water flow. Hope Niagara Falls didn't get you too wet:)

  20. Nothing is worse than plumbing problems! But you're right about letting the pros install your new faucet.
