They are beautiful pieces of art and you’re right they were shaped just like bonsai trees with the wind and the salt. We see that a lot here especially the closer we get to the beaches
Dad says he remembers seeing lots of trees like that when he and mom lived in Wilmington, NC. Out here where dad works, actually, it's so open and the wind can get pretty intense, and lots of the trees around the estate are permanently leaning like that.
Probably hard to keep that bonsai trimmed, since it is not in a small dish! Beautiful to see it covered with leaves in December. We are trying for sun today before the pre-eclipse rain moves in tonight. The yard is a giant sponge.
We get a lot of trees bent like that on the north coast of Devon and Cornwall and probably elsewhere in the UK. Some of the canopies grows almost flat from the strong winds that blow in off the sea.

Dearest Cecilia,
ReplyDeleteThose are such regal looking trees—and huge as compared to the cars!

Nature bends to nature's forces, finding ways to get along. A lovely picture, even more interesting knowing why the tree is as it is.

ReplyDeleteWow, that's crazy that the wind ocean spray could do that to something as big as a tree!

What a pretty scene. Those trees do look like bonsais.
ReplyDeleteThe trees shaped by wind off the water is one of the things I love about beach vacations.
