Nature and Final Friday Feature
Ode to  Male Eastern Bluebird

 Mr. Bluebird
sitting on my window ledge,
staring into my house.
Tap, tap, taping on the glass.
Do you see a mouse
Perhaps you are trying say HI
from up in the sky.
When you get my attention, you
spread you wings...jump up
into the air and back down.
Be very careful my fine feathered friend,
it would make me frown.
If upon the ground, you were  found.

The video is about 10 seconds. In beginning you can see his shadow

Music is from YouTube playing on my tv

Here are a few still pictures of him.
On the bottom right you see him as he is about to jump

At the top of the window,  in the middle above circle you see him hovering

Maybe some birding friends can explain this behavior.  I think maybe he is trying to
impress Mrs. BB...

From July 2011 flashback Madi talking about my favorite things

#1. ME, MADI THE DIVA CAT
I especially like sitting right here where I can be in the middle of everything.  This spot is half way between the kitchen and the family room.

#2. RUBY THROATED HUMMERS

Oh yes, this is quite common bird behaviour - they are getting little bugs, possibly spiders! Think of them as the cleaners... Loved your poem for the worker! YAM xx

  3. Bluebirds are such beautiful little birds and we were following behind one a couple of days ago that kept hopping up and down in the road until he finally took off. Love your story! Hi Madi♥

  4. How fun to have seen the bird practicing his odd behavior. Or maybe perfectly normal behavior but appearing odd to us.

  5. Evidently the lighting was just perfect that the bluebird thought he was being threatened by another bird. This is what happens when they see their reflection. And sweet angel of yours was right where she needed to be in the midst of the house. Therefore she could be seen and not missed.

  6. What a cute little bluebird at your window...we think he may see his reflection or, like YAM mentioned, be finding little bugs.

Our hummer season was slow to kick off with only a few black chinned hummers. Luckily, it as ramped up and TC is busy filming the many visitors!

  7. We had bluebirds here that would do the same thing. Mostly it's thought that they are reacting to their reflection. In 2017 when we were having our kitchen remodeled the bluebirds (whose house was right at the end of our driveway) would attack the side mirrors of the workers vehicle that was closest to the nest box. They were very entertaining.

  8. We use to see a lot of them. Not so many this year. But, that is probably a good thing with the 5 hunter/killers in the yard this year.

  9. Love the shadows in the window. Nice window, too. I have only seen one hummer this year. Hopefully, they will come back next year.

  12. That Bluebird definitely has a thing for that stained glass window. I am thinking it is the reflection too. Maybe he just really likes the lovely window :)
Madi, that is one beautifully polished floor where I see your reflection shining!
Still no hummers here that we have seen :(

  13. We don't understand birds. Mom had some bird feeders when we had cats so they could watch the birds but we are into furry creatures, not feathered. Pretty window, though.

  14. How fun it is to see that beautiful bluebird tapping on your window. We love your ode too. You have a great knack with words. And Angel Madi, we both always manage to position ourselves right in the middle of the action - we don't want to miss anything:)

  15. Pretty bird and your window is beautiful!

  16. Since it's not a mirrored window where he's seeing himself, he shouldn't be fighting with the reflection. Madi loved to do what my cats want to do, sit right in the middle where you have to step around them. Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday.
