Thoroughly Poetic Thursday#221

Today is Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy at

 Two Spoiled Cats

Here is this week's Photo Challenge

This photo reminded me of a similar story about Madi....

Flashback May 6, 2010

What is that lovely aroma?

A few nights ago, we went directly from home to supper then came directly home.
Evidently while we were gone, we either picked up a very good smell or a very bad smell.
Madi immediately noticed something was different about us.
She started with my shoes
nope it isn't Mom's...let me check out Dad's

oh baby this is it. Dad what in the world did you walk in?
Can I have some on my head? Yes right there please

ummm let me see if your left shoes smells as good as your right oh boy that one is even better.
Madi continue to push and shove at her Dad's shoes until he finally said here take the shoes
She then became even more obsessed with them. I moved them to the bedroom,
she followed me in there continued to sniff and bite at them. I finally sprayed the bottom of them. with Clorox Anywhere. Then put them in the closet.
Her Dad said he had the shoes on all day but she showed no interest in them until after supper.
I don't know what he walked in but it certainly appealed to Madi's senses.
Maybe there is a little K9 in our feline.

MOL... and that triggered a memory of my angel Jasper cat, who became obsessed with a visitors umbrella that was standing in the porch. Turned out she had some perfume that acted like catnip for him... so I wonder if, inadvertently, Bryan had trampled some sweet smelling plant?!! YAM xx

  3. Shoes are great for good sniffing opportunities (says Teddy). Inside the shoe, under the shoe, around the shoe.....humans walk in and through all kinds of stuff and those smells are not just stinky - but they tell us where our humans have been while they were away from us!!!! Good job!!!!!

    Hugs, Teddy

  5. If only we knew what our cats could hear and smell that we do not. This was delightful. I know how I would be, worried that it's something disgusting. But I'm sure it wasn't it was just interesting. This was a bunch of great photos of your sweet angel thanks

  7. We also love smelling shoes when the pawrents come in from an outing, but usually we're just making sure they haven't been visiting with other dogs BOL!

  8. Wouldn't you have liked to have known? Kitties and Pups must be almost overwhelmed by their sense of smell. Hope it was a good smell! Fun flashback!

  9. I do the same thing that you are doing, Madi, when mom comes inside from working outside in the yard and garden. It tells us where they have been, right!

  10. You never know what fragrant smells, or not so fragrant, the peeps might tread upon in the great big world. But it does bring enjoyment to the curious noses of furries.

Good luck to Bryan for a very good report.

  16. Chia: Now I'm going to have to start checking out everyone's feet when they come in from outside. Mom won't take me on walks anymore...something about "pulling too hard." But maybe it'll be like being there, smelling everything! OXOXOX
