Today would have been my parent's 71st anniversary.
My biological father died when I was 2 1/2 years old.
My biological father died when I was 2 1/2 years old.
My mom and dad were married January 16, 1954, nine days after my 5th birthday.
This is the story I was told about how they met.

Each afternoon he watched as she walked to work
at Montgomery Wards where she worked on Saturdays.
(they always referred to it a Monkey Wards, no clue why)

They lived on the same street blocks apart. Never met
He had just returned from three years in the Army.
He loved how her pony tail bounced and swayed.
Her route took her through a park.
One day he decided to follow her (I accused him of stalking her).
As she walked under a tree,
A bird had a pooping SPREE.
It landed smack on her ponytail.
However, being the gentleman that he was
He never admitted that this spree gave him glee.
It was time to introduce himself, he told her what had happened
offered her his hankie...and the rest as they say was history
