Symmetry Saturday

St. Michael's Episcopal Church

Oberlin Road aka older part of Raleigh still has lots of
overhead cables.  Where we live everything is underground.
Very large home I love the roof lines and the chimneys especially the all stone.
So much symmetry here one could get dizzy

Over the last year we watched the original house that was on this property be
demolished and this one as it was built.
It is HUGE. The driveway is as long as a street and it has a portico on the side.
Has all copper gutters and on the overhang above wind front bay windows
Lots of all which way symmetry here.

  1. Great photos - both of those houses are amazing. Makes our house look like a garage. HAHA

I love that you, like me, appreciate the offset of assymetry to set the pattern! That chimney is something else... and the newbuild home? Bit of a barn, IMO... YAM xx

  3. I wish we could put our power lines under ground, can't do it here, 2 or 3 feet down and it fills with water. I like the lines of the church and the tower and the windows with the small panes. if I had a house that big I would need a housekeeper and 2 maids

  6. Love both of the houses, especially the second one but I'd be worn out keeping it cleaned. The church is beautiful. The chimney on the first house is awesome. I like the contrast between the dark metal(?) roof and the color of the house. I don't know, maybe I like the house with the chimney the best... :)
    Good Morning!

  7. Mom wishes we had underground power lines too. Like Sandra, we would hit water pretty fast. The power lines always interfere with rocket launch photos.

  12. We'll have to start keeping an eye out for symmetry. Our house and yard are definitely not symmetrical.

  16. I love interesting buildings and houses too, and like KB, my favorite is also the one with the stone chimney. Although the copper on the next house caught my eye right away.

  17. Holy Moley. I am loving this tour! All of the homes, the one with the copper..the churches...it's all grand. Amtrak is looking better'n better.

Oh, I love uptown Charlotte with no above ground cables. There are so many picture taking opportunities and I am always taking pics of there skyscraper bank buildings...nothing to get in the way of a grand pic.

  19. I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
